The Embassy of Romania-London/ Following the invitation of the Ambassador of Romania in London, Dr. Ion Jinga, the renowned and beloved folk music composer and interpreter, Ducu Bertzi, has performed in a concert dedicated to the Romanian community from Great Britain, on July 10 2009.
The event was attended by 150 guests, members of the Romanian community and representatives of the Romanian language press, as well as British citizens who have Romania at heart.
In the opening speech, the Ambassador of Romania has reviewed the artistic career of the cherished folk music interpreter: “Ducu Bertzi is one of the leaders of the gold generation of the Romanian folk music. Each and every one of us has had the opportunity to listen to some of the warm tunes that define his music. After
performing in almost every corner of Romania, he started in 1998 to tour abroad, holding concerts in France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Tunisia, Morocco, Israel, United States, Canada, Ireland, Republic of Moldavia, Ukraine, Greece, Cyprus. Ducu Bertzi has arrived in London to fill our souls with “A bit of Romania” and to remind us of our native lands rooted deep down in our souls”.
“It is a great honour and an additional chance for me to bring happiness to people through my music”, mentioned Ducu Bertzi. The artist delighted the audience with his original musical compositions, as well as recalling to the public some of the cherished moments spent with his friend, the unrivalled artist that was Florian Pittis.
