Embassy of Romania-London/ On July 1st, 2010, in the presence of Mr Horia-Roman Patapievici, President of the Romanian Cultural Institute,
recently appointed as President of the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC), and in the presence of HE Dr Ion Jinga, the Ambassador of Romania to the United Kingdom, the Enescu Musical Society organized the Grand Finale Concert of the 2009/2010 season performed by the Schubert Ensemble.
The event benefited between its numerous audience of the presence of musicians, music critics, professors and students, in the programme being included works by G. Enesco, J. Brahms and F. Schubert. This was the 9th concert of the 2009/ 2010 concert season and the 27th of the Enescu Society, since its début in 2007. The 2010/ 2011 concert season will open on the 8th of October 2010, with a concert performed by Clara Cernat and Thierry Huillet.
The Schubert Ensemble has established itself over 27 years as one of the world's leading exponents of music for piano and strings. Regularly giving over 60 concerts a year, the Ensemble has performed in over 40 different countries. The Ensemble recorded 12 CDs, its core repertoire encompassing the works of Schubert, Schumann, Hummel, Fauré, Brahms or Mendelssohn.
In Romania, the ensemble performed numerous concerts in Cluj, Timisoara, Bucharest (The International Festival “George Enescu”, 2005), all of them featuring the music of the Romanian world renowned composer George Enescu.
