PM Dancila reiterates Romania's support for European project's enhancement at meeting with European Council's Tusk

​Prime minister Viorica Dancila on Tuesday reiterated at a meeting with the European Council's President Donald Tusk, Romania's strong support for the enhancement of the European project.

Moreover, Viorica Dancila mentioned the interest that "the agenda of the future Presidency of the EU Council our country is due to hold in the first half of 2019, to answer the European citizens' expectations."

Prime minister Dancila confirmed her personal commitment to the advancement of the preparation process, saying that to assure the conditions necessary for the professional and efficient carrying out of Romania's mandate to the EU Council is a gov't's priority goal, a release by the Romanian Government reads.

The head of the Executive reconfirmed her attachment and that of the government to the European values and principles. Moreover, Dancila expressed the Romanian gov't's openness to closely cooperate with the European Council's President in the administration of the agenda's files, as well as to successfully organise the European informal summit in Sibiu regarding Europe's future, due on 9 May 2019, the source adds.

Premier Dancila expressed Romania's support for the constructive unfolding of the talks on the future EU Multiannual Financial Framework, for the benefit of the European project's progress.

The Romanian premier stressed the importance given by Romania to the development of the relations with the Eastern Partnership countries, reconfirming Romania's strong backing for the European roadmap of the Republic of Moldova, pleading for the furthering of the EU's support in the implementation of the reform process circumscribed to the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU.

The Premier referred to the visit she intends to pay next week in Chisinau.

In his turn, the European Council's President emphasised his openness to closely work with our country, in the period of Romania's Presidency to the EU Council, included, and underlined the role the central and East-European countries could have in the strengthening of the European project.
