Embassy of Romania-London/ The Ambassador of Romania, Dr Ion Jinga, paid an official visit to Scotland, between 22nd - 26th of June 2010. This is the Ambassador’s third visit to Scotland since he was appointed in March 2008, the previous two being dedicated to the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Romania in Aberdeen and to a better understanding of the needs of the Romanians living in the region.

| City Skills for Life: Romanian project at the London Festival of Architecture 2010 |

Embassy of Romania in London/On the 21st of June 2010, HE Dr Ion Jinga, Ambassador of Romania to London, participated at the launching of City Skills for Life, the Romanian project at the London Festival of Architecture 2010, organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute London. The Festival of Architecture takes place between 19 June and 2 July 2010. The Romanian project brings together a team of architects, designers and artists who investigate the paradoxical nature of Bucharest, the individual works analysing “the psychological contract” between the city and its inhabitants.

| Awarness-raising events for the Romanian community in Northern Ireland |

Embassy of Romania-London/ Two activities dedicated to the Romanian community in Northern Ireland took place between 12 and 13 June this year in Belfast and Ballymena. The events were organized by the Embassy of Romania in London in partnership with the authorities in Northern Ireland, The Romanian Honorary Consulate in Northern Ireland and the organizations Multi-Cultural Resource Centre (MCRCNI), Lower Ormeau Residents Action Group (LORAG) and Romanian Self Support Group.

The Embassy in London/ On 7 June 2010, HE Dr Ion Jinga, the Ambassador of Romania in London, participated at the conference “Democracy and Memory: Romania confronts Its Communist Past”, organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute – London. Panellists were Prof. Vladimir Tismaneanu, President of the Scientific Council of the Institute for the Investigation of the Communist Crimes and the Memory of Romanian Exile and Dr John Gledhill, lecturer at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Discussions were moderated by Dorian Branea, the Director of the Romanian Cultural Institute – London.
